For thousands of years we have relied on nature to sustain and heal us. Our products are made in the apothecary tradition from the best ingredients available, blended in small batches on our farm in the Hudson Valley. Lockwood uses the best raw ingredients nature has to offer for their function. And no yucky stuff – our products are paraben, sulfate and petroleum free and we never test on animals.

Our products are relentlessly authentic.  They serve no function other than cleansing, nurturing and moisturizing the skin and feeling great.  They are scented with authentic, beautiful, all-natural scents.  The packaging speaks for itself.

Our Commitment to Clean Ingredients

Parabens

Parabens are synthetic preservatives commonly used in foods, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics To create products with very long shelf lives.  However, they also enter the body through the skin and are endocrine disruptors as they mimic hormones in the body. They have been linked to cancer and are an environmental contaminant. We use naturally derived or eco-certified preservative systems that are effective in preserving our products.

Sulfates

Sulfates are used as “lather agents” to make bubbles in skin and hair care products. They are known skin and eye irritants as well as an environmental contaminant. For some they can also have a very drying effect on skin and hair. Our ingredient blends are sulfate-free yet deliver an luxuriously creamy foam.

Petroleum

Petroleum-derived ingredients are pervasive in beauty products. They are commonly used in skincare products to help ‘lock in moisture’. In fact they clog skin’s pores and interfere with the body's natural moisturizing mechanism. Those ingredients can be potentially cancer-causing and a leading environmental contaminant. They have been found to be irritating, sensitizing, and drying on the skin. We do not use any petroleum-derived ingredients in any of our products.

Synthetic Fragrances

Many synthetic fragrances contain phthalates and petroleum-derived ingredients that are believed to be endocrine disruptors, mimicking the body’s hormones and can cause skin irritations and headaches. All of our fragrances are made from 100% natural plant materials and essential oils. We do not use harsh petrochemicals to create them. The scents are captured through traditional processes such as expression, distillation, etc.

We never test on animals. Ever. Period.

Giving back is an important to us. We have partnered with One Tree Planted to help fight deforestation in North America. We plant a tree for every ten products sold. Find out more here.

Local Support

We source close to 75% of our raw materials from suppliers within a 200 mile radius focusing on local suppliers and small business. This not only allows us to mitigate our carbon footprint but also have more control over where our ingredients come from.
